  • Telling the York Story survey — you have already received an email from President Lenton inviting you to help clearly define who we are, what we stand for, what we offer and how we are different from other universities. By completing it, you will contribute to identifying and shaping a compelling narrative about why students want to study here. The survey is open until February 22, 2019.

  • Commemorating Black History Month, McLaughlin College, RISE Sub-Committee of PACHR and the Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion (CHREI) present Many Rivers to Cross: The African-Canadian Experience, an award-winning photo exhibit presenting audiences with “an impression of the place that those of African descent have long occupied in the Canadian mosaic.” Open until Thursday, February 28, McLaughlin College Art Gallery, Room 001

  • York University Student Transit Survey: We encourage you to complete this survey by the York Federation of Students (YFS) in an effort to gather more data around student transit use and explore the possibility of a Universal Transit Pass.

  • York wants to know how to better communicate with you, our students. We’ve put together a 10-minute survey to find out what you think about the ways we currently provide information and how we can improve to meet your needs. Complete the survey to enter our draw for ONE of TWO $100 GIFT CERTIFICATES or SIX $50 GIFT CERTIFICATES for the York U BOOKSTORE. The survey is open until February 22, 2019.

  • Check out some mouth-watering Valentine’s Day DIY recipes from the YU Life Ambassadors in this video! Find more on their “Valentine’s Day Treats on a Student Budget” blog post this Thursday, February 14.

  • Take a break from your studies and join the Global Peer Program’s Valentine’s Day Movie Night by watching a free film on Wednesday February 13, 5:30 to 7:30pm, 280N York Lanes. Popcorn, snacks and drinks will be provided!

  • playGround: The 26th Annual Fringe Festival for New Plays in Development. Created and produced by undergraduate students in the Department of Theatre; the 26th annual York-based fringe fest features new, original works collaborated on and created by young playwrights, designers, and directors. Runs from Tuesday, February 12 to Friday, February 15, Joseph G. Green Studio Theatre, Centre for Film and Theatre. Tickets are $7!

  • abunDance is a Department of Dance showcase featuring the York Dance Ensemble. It runs from Wednesday, February 13 to Friday, February 15, 7:30pm, Sandra Faire and Ivan Fecan Theatre, 110 Accolade East Building. Find tickets here.

Health & Wellness

  • Are you a York University student who identifies as LGBTQ2S+? Thriving on Campus is an Ontario-wide, bilingual, LGBTQ2S+ campus climate study and the results will inform efforts to foster the acceptance of LGBTQS+ students and promote their wellbeing and academic success. The online survey period runs from Friday, February 1 to Tuesday, April 30. Check out the website to learn more.

International Connections

  • York International has launched #YIFeel, a mental health and awareness campaign for international students. Through video, blog posts and visual components, YI aims to initiate a dialogue about mental health among international students at York University.

  • Graduating International Students Seminar. York International has designed a seminar specifically to support our international students as they prepare to leave the University and enter the workforce. Thursday, February 14, 1:30 to 3pm, 280N York Lanes.

  • Info Session: Learn about how to file your income tax return, contribution limits, deductions and credits for students, RRSP vs TSFA and non-taxable income in the Discovery Room at the Bennett Centre on Wednesday, February 13, 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Register here.

Athletics & Recreation

  • The women’s and men’s volleyball teams will be taking on the Western Mustangs this Saturday, February 16, 1pm and 3pm, and they will be facing the Windsor Lancers on Sunday, February 17, 1pm and 3pm in the Tait McKenzie Centre.

  • The women’s hockey team will be facing the Laurentian Voyageurs this Saturday, February 16, 7pm.
