Student Support Services

  • To better support all students, including international and out-of-province students, York has partnered with the keep.meSAFE Student Support Program (SSP) to offer a host of resources, including confidential support to students at no cost, access to real-time and appointment-based counselling support, self-help resources and more. Learn more about keep.meSAFE.

  • Student Accessibility Services continues to meet with students virtually! Students already registered with Student Accessibility Services can connect with their Accessibility Counsellor by email or via sasinfo@yorku.ca.

International Connections

  • York International Webinar: Prepare for York: Making Virtual ConnectionsJoin this session and learn how to get involved as an international student and how to make friends in an online environment. Wednesday, May 26, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Registration required.

YI’s daily Virtual Coffee Breaks are an online space for international and domestic students from across programs, Faculties, countries and cultures to connect and get to know each other! Student Leaders are on Zoom every weekday with different fun and interesting topics.

Mature Student Support

  • Mature Students Webinar: Time Management for Mature Students. Join this session to learn practical, personalized approaches to managing your time. Get tips to manage and balance school, work and life. Wednesday, May 26, 11 a.m. to noon. Registration required.

  • Mindful Meditation Session. Take a break and join these relaxing meditation sessions facilitated by Psychologist Scott Pope from Student Counselling, Health & Well-being. These sessions will help you to de-stress, decrease loneliness and increase positivity. Thursday, May 27, 1 to 1:45 p.m. Drop-Ins welcome!

Careers Support

  • Careers Workshop: What Can I Do With My Degree? Log into this webinar to learn how the skills you are developing in your degree and the experiences you are gaining while at York will help build a foundation for your future. Wednesday, May 26, 2 to 3 p.m. Registration required.

  • Webinar: On the Job Success. Attend this session and learn tips on how to create great first impressions and what to expect the first few days on the job. You'll also learn how to increase your chances of workplace success, how to communicate assertively and handle difficult situations effectively. Thursday, May 27, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Registration required.

Learning Skills

  • Learning Skills Workshop: Secrets of Academic SuccessJoin this workshop if you are looking for strategies to help improve your academic achievement and confidence. Thursday, May 27, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Registration required.

  • Workshop: Reading & Notetaking. Many students find keeping up with the readings and lecture notes at university to be a real challenge. In this session, you'll learn effective techniques to help you stay on top of your course work. Tuesday, June 1, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Registration required.

Academics

Health & Wellness

  • The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion (REI) will be offering REDI series workshops and Anti-Racism REDI series workshops all summer long. All sessions will be offered virtually and are free and open to all York students. Attend at least three of the REDI workshops (90 minutes each) and complete the REDI Online Tutorial to receive a REDI Certificate of Completion! Learn more about the workshops and register at the links above.

  • Requesting & Accessing Accommodations. Log into this REDI Workshop to hear a detailed overview of the rights and responsibilities in the accommodations process based on the Ontario Human Rights Code. You'll also learn how to request and respond to accommodation needs and strategies that will assist in increasing inclusion and accessibility in the York community. Tuesday, June 1, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration required.
