  • ICYMI: York Posts Top Scores in Times Higher Education Global Impact Ranking 2021. For the third year in a row, York has been ranked highly by the Times Higher Education Global Impact Ranking, which ranks universities on their work towards the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This year, York has placed 11th in Canada and 67th overall against 1,115 post-secondary institutions from 94 different countries. Read more about the Times Higher Education Global Impact Rankings.

Announcement

  • All Community Virtual Town Hall. Join President Rhonda Lenton and other York senior leaders at this all-community Virtual Town Hall who will discuss plans for a return to on-campus activities in Fall 2021 and address questions from our community members. The panel will answer questions from students, staff, instructors and faculty. Submit your questions in advance using this Virtual Town Hall question submission formWednesday, May 12, 3 to 4:30 p.m.

  • UIT Announcement: The UIT Network team will be upgrading the data centre network from 10 p.m. on Friday, May 7, to 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 8. This maintenance will enhance the performance and reliability of many systems and applications at York. During this maintenance period, there will be intermittent outages that could last up to 60 minutes for many services, including the University's main website and eClass.

Money Matters

  • Employment Opportunities: There are positions available for students right now with teams such as Career Education & Development! They are now accepting applications for Peer Leader positions for Fall/Winter 2021-2022. Build leadership skills, community connections and York pride. Open to current undergraduate students. Health & Wellness

  • The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion (REI) will be offering REDI series workshops and Anti-Racism workshops all summer long. All sessions will be offered virtually, are free and open to all York students. Attend at least three of the REDI workshops (90 minutes each) and complete the REDI Online Tutorial to receive a REDI Certificate of Completion!   • REDI Workshop: Addressing & Responding to Sexual Harassment. Join this interactive session, where you will become familiar with the legislation and policies that define sexual harassment and gain an understanding of why sexual harassment continues to be pervasive in our society. Attendees will examine various scenarios aimed at obtaining strategies and sharing best practices on how to identify, prevent and respond to instances of sexual harassment on campus. Wednesday, May 5, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Registration required.

  • Anti-Racism Workshop Series: Acknowledging & Addressing Racism. Join this workshop and gain an understanding of how to recognize racism, how it can manifest and what its impacts are. You'll learn about strategies to address barriers to inclusive spaces and become familiar with relevant tools, policies and legislation within the York context. Tuesday, May 11, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Registration required.

  • Webinar: How to Effectively Use LinkedIn for Students with Disabilities. Join this session and learn tips on how to use LinkedIn effectively to enhance your job search.   • Student Accessibility Services continues to meet with students virtually! Students already registered with Student Accessibility Services can connect with their Accessibility Counsellor by email or via sasinfo@yorku.ca.

Learning Skills

  • Webinar: Zoom/eClass Student Tutorial. All students are welcome to join this session and learn the ins and outs of Zoom and eClass in preparation for your virtual classes this Winter. These sessions will cover York's primary online learning platforms. You'll learn some key information as well as tips and strategies from senior students on Zoom lectures, breakout rooms, online testing evaluations and more! Thursday, May 6, 10 to 11:30 a.m. Registration required.

  • International Student Virtual Orientation. York International (YI) can't wait to meet the next group of York Lions from all over the world joining this summer's international student orientation sessions! During these sessions you'll get the chance to meet other new students from around the world, learn about YI and all the student services York offers to help support your success as a student including immigration services, academic advising, library services, health & wellness, and more! Thursday, May 6, 8 to 10 a.m. Registration required.
