Connect with Community

  • The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Inclusion (REI) will be offering REDI series workshops and Anti-Racism REDI series workshops all summer long. All sessions will be offered virtually and are free and open to all York students. Attend at least three of the REDI workshops (90 minutes each) and complete the REDI Online Tutorial to receive a REDI Certificate of Completion!   • Dialogue Across Difference. Join this educational workshop which will walk you through a series of engaging activities and reflection exercises that will help you identify personal limitations to engaging in dialogue across differences, engage in meaningful conversation through respectful dialogue and develop personal strategies to manage emotions in order to look past individual differences. Wednesday, July 21, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration required.

  • Orienting Yourself to Allyship. In this workshop, you'll engage in exercises that will deepen your understanding of allyship in a personal and institutional setting. You'll also get the chance to practice active allyship and develop strategies to have brave conversations. Thursday, July 22, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Registration required.

  • Recognizing Resilience in Communities. Attend this session, where you'll discuss community resilience in the face of disadvantage and hardship, and examine the ways barriers and discrimination shape our perspective of communities under duress. Tuesday, July 27, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Registration required.

  • Leadership Workshop: The Emotionally Intelligent LeaderIn this workshop, you'll learn strategies for how to empathize appropriately with team members, become self-aware of their strengths and weaknesses and implement this to improve team dynamics. Monday, July 26, 1 to 2 p.m. Registration required.
