Important Dates

    • Fall classes begin: Wednesday, Sept. 8
    • Reminder: Classes scheduled to be in-person between Sept. 7-11 will be remote for the first week. Where exceptions are approved (for example Osgoode Hall Law School), instructors will be in touch directly with students.
    • Fees due for Fall and Year course enrolments and program-based undergraduate programs: Friday, Sept. 10
    • First half of residence and meal plan fees due: Friday, Sept. 10
    • Last date to add a course without permission of instructor: Tuesday, Sept. 21

    Remember that the refund deadlines are different from course add/drop deadlines. Check the refund tables for more information.

  • Black Excellence YU (BE YU) Welcome Event : BE YU provides Black students with the supports they need to transition to university and maximize their student experience on the path to graduation. Attend this event where you’ll get to know the community of incoming students and feel welcomed, seen and supported at York. Learn where to go for a range of academic and personal support for Black students. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration required.

Student Support Services

  • The Office of Student Community Relations (OSCR) is also available by phone and email to provide support to students impacted by critical incidents or personal crises, and to help with referrals.

  • Learn how you can spread kindness on our campuses this Fall! Visit the Kindness Campaign website to learn how we can all support each other through simple acts of kindness, access the Kindness Toolkit and find additional support for you or someone you know.

  • Get your YU-card on the YU-card Office website! New students are required to apply online using the YU-card photo upload tool. The Office is also offering mail delivery to new students who have never been issued a card before.

    Current students can also replace or renew their card and manage their account online. If you're planning on visiting the YU-card Office at Keele Campus, you can book an appointment through QLess. Glendon Students can book an appointment on Calendly to obtain their card at Glendon Campus.

Academics

Out & About On Campus

  • On-Campus Library Hours Update:

    • Scott Library will be open Tuesday, Sept. 7 through to Friday Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
    • Frost Library will be open Wednesday Sept. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. All other libraries will be physically closed during this period until Monday, Sept. 13.
    • Virtual Library Services are also available.

    Library Workshop: Academic Integrity: How You Can Learn to Stop Worrying and Love Citations. Citation prepares you to be an active participant in conversations within your scholarly community and in your professional career. In this workshop, you’ll discuss citation tips and learn the skills you need to succeed at York and beyond. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 12:30 to 2 p.m. Registration required.

International Connections

  • Fall 2021 In-Person International Orientation Picnic! Join York International (YI) in-person at Keele campus for fun activities and meet peers, faculty and YI staff! Some activities include a campus tour, charades, human bingo and a fun photobooth to capture memories. Friday, Sept. 10, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration required.

Mature Student Support

  • Student Accessibility Services Information Session for Mature Students. Are you a mature student with questions about Student Accessibility Services and academic accommodations? Join this session for an overview of their services and how to access disability-related academic accommodations at York. Monday, Sept. 13, 2 to 3 p.m. Registration required.

Connect with Community

  • The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) is recruiting student representatives for the Student Advisory Committee (SAC). The SAC will bring together students with diverse backgrounds and experiences to share their thoughts on OUR projects, policies and initiatives. Build leadership skills, community connections and be a positive force for strengthening your student services. Application Deadline: Tuesday, Sept. 28.

  • The SDG Student Hub at York is recruiting for several volunteer positions for their Hub Leadership Team, including for Communications, Digital Media and more! They’re also looking for General Hub Members. Under the Sustainability Office @ York, the SDG Student Hub creates networking and learning opportunities for the Sustainable Development Goals. Members can work towards the SDG Students Program Certificate. Applications are due on Friday, Sept. 17. Apply early!

  • In Case You Missed It

    Wondering who can help find resources on campus? The Vari Hall Kiosk (formerly known as Red Zone) located in the Vari Hall Rotunda serves as a central resource for wayfinding, questions about campus resources, and an opportunity for students and visitors to get learn about student life, our programs and services, and getting involved. The Kiosk is open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Wednesday, Sept. 15. Thereafter, the Kiosk will operate with its regular Fall term weekday schedule of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    Have evening classes or staying late on campus? goSAFE has you covered. Teams of two students will accompany you to and from any on-campus location and can meet you at your pick-up location within 10 minutes of your call. For instructions on how to contact goSAFE, visit the goSAFE website.

    The Lost & Found office opens on Wednesday, Sept. 8. It is in the Ross Building in Ross South 107 and operational from Monday to Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. You can also reach them on lost@yorku.ca and 416-736-5534.

    International Indigenous Student Exchange Program: From September to December 2021, Indigenous students can participate in the program to meet, learn, and collaborate with fellow Indigenous students in Canada, Australia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and the Philippines. The program is available for 3.0 credits through Indigenous Cultural Experience Course (course code: INDG 3060). To register, self-identified Indigenous students must fill out an Online Application.
