  • Get advice on coming to campus from YU Screen. If you are not feeling well, use York’s self-assessment tool for guidance. The Student Case and Contact Management team will get in touch and follow up with a note about your situation. If you are still unsure about whether you should return to campus, you can continue to screen daily.

  • Spirit Day. Make connections at a fun day of giveaways, treats and activities. Join President Rhonda L. Lenton in celebrating York pride and achievements by wearing official York colours (red, white or blue). Wednesday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Keele Campus: The Harry W. Arthur Commons. Glendon Campus: Centre of Excellence. Registration required for some events.

  • Spirit Day Sustainability Activities. Create a greener campus and get outdoors for tree planting, campus clean-up and more! The Office of Sustainability is partnering with Regenesis@York to promote sustainability at Spirit Day at both Keele and Glendon Campus. Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 12:30 p.m. Registration required by Tuesday, Oct. 18 at noon.

  • #YUGood? LA&PS Stress-buster Fest. Take time for a mental break and prioritize your well-being with free events including therapy dogs, pottery painting, exam survival kit building, drop-in peer tutoring and more. Tuesday, Oct. 18 to Thursday, Oct. 20, various sessions between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Scott Library, Atrium.

  • Speed Painting: Birds on a Branch. Express yourself artistically and learn the basics of painting. Explore colour theory, and how to draw and paint birds. Please note, materials will be provided. Friday, Oct. 21, 4 to 6 p.m. Stong College Room 101.  Registration required.

Academics

  • Academic Integrity Workshops. Explore how you can strengthen your confidence as a scholar and learn about the resources you need to succeed with academic integrity. Sessions run from Monday, Oct. 17 to Friday, Oct. 21 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration required.

  • Academic Integrity Virtual Scavenger Hunt. Learn about York’s academic support services in this fun scavenger hunt. Participate to be entered into a draw to win one of five $50 gift cards for the York University Bookstore. Contest closes on Monday, Oct. 31.

Learning Skills

  • Zotero Workshop. Learn how to install and navigate Zotero, a free software that helps you organize your research, create bibliographies and paste citations or footnotes in your assignments. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 10 to 11 a.m. Registration required.

  • Grammar On! Workshop 2: FEELING COMMA-TOSE? Learn about everything comma-related and how to properly use them! Wednesday, Oct. 19, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

  • Learning Photoshop. Navigate the basics of Photoshop and learn how to use the tools and toolbar, and get the basics of layers, cropping and resizing images. Please note, participants will need a computer with Adobe Photoshop. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 3 to 4 p.m. Registration required.

Student Support Services

  • Graduate School Applications and Academic Cover Letters Workshop. Get an overview of important strategies and considerations for writing both academic personal statements and cover letters. Gain information on the graduate school application process, including developing a CV, structuring research proposals and getting reference letters. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 12:30 to 2 p.m.

International Student Support

  • Faculty Meet & Greet for International Students. Connect with professors, the York International team and peers in person to ask academic and career questions, get advice from faculty members and network with potential future references. Thursday, Oct. 20, 3 to 4:30 p.m. Registration required.

  • Study Permit Extension Workshop. Is your study permit expiring in the next three months? Learn to use the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) online system to complete your application. Before attending, please review York’s immigration application process. Thursday, Oct. 20, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. York Lanes 280N. Registration required.

  • Become an International Leader in Japan. Do you want to visit Japan and make connections over reading week? The annual Japan-Canada Academic Consortium Student Forum’s goal is to give students the opportunity to interact with peers from a different culture and encourage a flow of ideas between them. Deadline to apply is Thursday, Oct. 20, by 4:59 p.m.

Health & Wellness

  • Student Counselling, Health & Well-being (SCHW) offers several support groups to help you discover that you are not alone, make new friends with others on campus and develop feelings of trust and mutual support with group members. All sessions are led by SCHW facilitators who promote a safe and positive space for all participants.
