Important Dates

  • University Closures. York campuses will be closed from Friday, Dec. 23, to Tuesday, Jan. 3, and will re-open on Wednesday Jan. 4, 2023.

  • Student Accounts Lifecycle. If you are not enrolled in courses at York, your student computing accounts will enter an expiry process. To keep your files, be sure to download them onto your personal devices.

  • Residence Life is Hiring. Are you looking for a job or volunteer opportunity on campus? Check out available opportunities and get involved. Application period ends Sunday, Jan. 15, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

  • 3M National Student Fellowship. This fellowship is honouring full-time diploma and undergraduate students who have outstanding leadership skills and are implementing change in their academic community and beyond. Application packages should be submitted on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023.

Worth Repeating

  • VPS Meet & Greet. Explore Keele Campus with Vice-Provost, Students Nona Robinson. Ask questions, make new friends and take a well-deserved break. Next session Wednesday, Dec. 21, 3 to 4 p.m. Registration required.

  • Scott Library Elevator Refurbishment. To enhance the student experience in York’s spaces, work on the Scott Library elevator is scheduled to continue until Friday, Feb. 3, 2023. This project will extend the functional life for the elevator, keeping upper floors accessible for all members of our community.

  • University-Wide Creative Writing Competition. Submit your unpublished work for the opportunity to win a prize and be recognized by The Creative Writing Department, Faculty of LA&PS and The Office of the President. Submissions required by Friday, Jan. 13. Competition results will be announced in Spring 2023.

Careers Support

  • Career Lounge. Check out the hybrid Monday to Friday schedule to find an opportunity to ask career peer educators job-related questions. No registration required.

International Student Support

  • In-person International Student Advising. Do you have questions about study and work permits, visas and more? Find the answers and resources you need during this advising session. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 9 to 11:30 a.m. 200 York Lanes.

  • Study in the U.S. with the Killam Fellowship Program. Have you ever wanted to spend one semester or a full academic year as an exchange student in Canada or the United States? If so, you can have the chance to receive awards. Application closes Thursday, Dec. 15.

Health & Wellness

  • Student Counselling, Health & Well-being (SCHW) offers support groups to help you know that you’re not alone, you make friends on campus and develop trust with other group members. Every session is led by SCHW facilitators who promote a safe and positive space for participants.
    2SLGBTQIA+ Support Group. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 1 to 2 p.m. Registration required.
    Gay Men’s Support Group. Every Wednesday, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Registration required.

  • Las Nubes Project Study Abroad in Costa Rica. Gain credits while exploring Costa Rica during winter reading week with Professor Martin Bunch at York University’s Eco Campus. Limited spots available. Registration required by Thursday, Dec. 22.
