FYI

  • Rapid testing program. York is offering at-home rapid antigen testing kits for all community members. Tests can be picked up at various locations at scheduled times on the Keele (YU Test Clinic, York International, Bennett Centre for Student Services and the Vari Hall Rotunda) and Glendon (Office of Student Affairs) campuses. Please note that due to limited supplies of rapid antigen tests, there is a limit of one package per community member. For pick-up details, visit the Rapid Antigen Testing Program webpage.

Connect with Community

    • Respect, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Workshop Series. The Centre for Human Right, Equity and Inclusion (REI) is launching its summer workshop series registration on YU Learn for the first time. The REDI series is open to all students at York. The sessions will be offered in three mini-series that cover broad and intersecting areas like anti-racism and equity, accessing and offering accommodations, and gender and sexuality inclusion.
    • Acknowledging and Addressing Racism (CHRAR1). This workshop will help participants recognize racism, how it can manifest and its impacts. Learn about strategies to address barriers to inclusive spaces and become familiar with relevant tools, policies and legislation within the York context. Thursday, May 12, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Registration required.
    • Intervening on Racism (CHRPR4). Design strategies and practice tools to intervene in moments of racial discrimination, harassment, and microaggressions. Prior familiarity with these concepts is recommended and note that attendees will be asked to participate during this session. Tuesday, May 17, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Registration required.

    • Academic Survival Kit for Transfer Students: Meet the Learning Commons Team! Learn about the academic resources available at York to help you navigate academic tasks and assignments. This workshop will also introduce you to the Learning Commons and how you can learn key academic skills to succeed at York. Thursday, May 12, 10 to 11 a.m. Registration required.
    • Strategies to Raise Your GPA. This workshop session will provide students with information about what a GPA is, how to calculate it, the different strategies to raise your GPA, and other tips and tools to be successful! Monday, May 16, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Registration required.
    • Tips for Learning @ York U for Transfer Students. This workshop is designed to help transfer students better understand the keys to mastering university-level learning. Tuesday, May 17, 11 a.m. to noon. Registration required.
    • Secrets of Academic Success. Learn key strategies to improve your academic skills. Wednesday, May 11, 1 to 2 p.m. Registration required. This workshop will also take place on Monday, May 16, 2 to 3 p.m.

Health & Wellness

    • Trauma-informed Yoga Group for female-identifying students. Trauma-informed yoga is an approach to creating a supportive space in which students can learn emotional regulation skills through breath work and body awareness. With free 24/7 supports through the keep.meSAFE My SSP app and online resources, students can find health tips, academic advice, self-help guides, and counselling in multiple languages from qualified professionals with specific lived experiences.
