Welcome Back

  • Get your YU-card. Your YU-card allows you to access key services, such as the library, recreation facilities, exams, food, meal plans, shopping, events, discounts and more.
  • Learn about ways to get to campus. Familiarize yourself with public transportation like Brampton Transit, GO Transit, TTC and YRT/VIVA, to get to campus quickly and easily. If you plan to drive to York, check Parking Services for permits, rates and other information. Accessible Parking is available if you have the Ontario Accessibility Parking Placard and proper parking permits. Use the HonkMobile App to pay for your parking spot with ease.

  • Get 24/7 Help From SAVY. As you return to campus, don’t forget that SAVY, your student virtual assistant is here to answer your questions all day, every day. SAVY can assist with over 500 topics, including wayfinding, campus life, where to eat and academics. Find SAVY on eClass, across York’s websites or scan the QR codes around campus.

  • York Orientation for first-year students

    • York Orientation Day 2022. Meet your fellow students and professors, get to know your college and learn about resources available at York University. Tuesday, Sept. 6.
    • Academic Orientation. Academic Orientation is mandatory for all new students and is program-specific. Learn about your home Faculty, explore your program, discover resources to support your academic and social life and how to successfully transition to university. Check your @my.yorku.ca email account for emails regarding your program’s academic orientation and don’t forget to register!
  • Social Orientation/Frosh Week. Get introduced to life outside the classroom both at York and in the City of Toronto. Have fun while getting to know new students in your program and what opportunities await you at York.  Saturday, Aug. 27 to Tuesday, Sept. 6. Register for your Colleges’ Frosh Week through the Orientation website.

  • Steps to Success: Making the Most out of Your University Experience. Gain insight into academic success and personal and professional development. Recognize your personal interests and find ways to utilize them in your university experience. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2 to 3 p.m. Registration required.

  • Graduate Admissions—Virtual Office Hours. Learn more about graduate admissions, programs and graduate-level study at York. Join the virtual office hour at any time to ask any questions you might have and feel free to hop off whenever is needed. Thursday, Sept. 1, 3 to 4 p.m. Registration required.

Careers Support

  • Preparing for Career Fair Success Webinar: Resumé and Cover Letter Writing. Find out how to effectively target your Resumé and Cover Letter. Present your experiences, education and skills in a way that showcases your assets and piques employers’ interest in you. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 10 a.m. to noon. Register through Experience York.

  • Grad Social 2022 – A Virtual Event for Incoming Grad Students. Meet with York’s Decanal team and campus partners to learn about a variety of resources and services available to support your graduate journey. Tuesday, Sept. 6, noon to 1:30 p.m. Registration required.

Mature Student Support

  • International Mature & Transfer Students: Let’s Talk Canadian Culture, eh! Immerse yourself in Canadian culture, values and how the culture is represented. This session will also touch on Canadian terminologies/slang that will help you adapt into your new environment/surroundings. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 10 to 11 a.m. Registration required.

  • Connect with Mature & Transfer Students! Meet fellow mature and transfer students and chat with the York University Mature Student Organization executive members, as well as staff from the Atkinson Centre for Mature & Part-time Students (ACMAPS) and peer mentors. Thursday, Sept. 1, 3 to 4 p.m., 113 Vanier College. Registration required.
