York University’s COVID-19 update. As you hear about ongoing developments in the COVID-19 pandemic, we appreciate that many of you may be concerned as we return to in-person classes. To assist with this transition, we want to remind York students about steps you can take to stay safe. Read the latest announcement for details.

• Visit the Start Strong YU Coming to Campus page for everything you need to know about visiting York’s campuses this fall. Learn how to find your way around York, what you need to help you on campus and some helpful resources that are available when you get here.
   
• Navigate the beginning of classes with resources that will support your success, development and well-being as a York student with the Start Strong YU Start of Class page.
   
• No doubt, you have lots of questions about starting a new academic term. Visit the Start Strong YU FAQs page for answers to some common questions that other students have had.
   
• If you’re a new student at York, complete these to-do’s for a smooth start to the fall term.
   
• It can be intimidating to meet new people and make friends. The Start Strong YU Student Life & Community section offers opportunities to get involved outside of the classroom and build your support system.
  • Get the most out of your university experience with Student Community & Leadership Development's array of tools, programs and workshops to ensure your growth and engagement in student life.
  • Browse YU Connect to find student clubs and organizations and join those that speak to you.
     
• Taking care of your mental health and emotional well-being will help you enjoy your student experience. For counselling support, attend an in-person walk-in session or book a virtual same-day appointment at Student Counselling, Health & Well-being or the Accessibility, Well-being and Counselling Centre on Glendon Campus.
   
• For students looking to learn more about career and job opportunities, Career Education & Development is here to help! Attend workshops and webinars to develop skills like building a resumé, interview preparation and more! Check their calendar for upcoming employer events and career fairs throughout the year. Register for workshops and events through Experience York.
   
• International students or those looking to study or work abroad can connect with York International for questions or support. Check the YI events calendar throughout the year to be part of the community, meet new people and learn more about their services.
  • Q&A for New International Students. Get your questions about study permit and visa delays answered at this Q&A session. Thursday, Sept. 8, 9 to 10:30 a.m. Registration required.

• Get support for learning and studying with Learning Skills Services to build skills for academic success, such as effective study strategies, time management, academic reading and much more.
   
• York University Library Orientation. Learn about other orientation activities like library tours, The Amazing Library Race, workshops and more. While on campus, keep an eye out for the Library table in Vari Hall and the roaming "Extreme Makeover" Bookcart. Wednesday, Sept. 7 to Wednesday, Sept. 14. Registration required.
   
• Take advantage of the support offered by Academic Advising. Advising helps you make informed decisions about your courses and degree pathway as you progress through your program.
  • Use the Study Options website to map out what, when, where and how you want to study or pursue learning experiences abroad, including credential programs with other institutions, academic exchanges and more.

Rock your red, show your York Pride and support York's women's and men's soccer teams in this week's Frosh Rewind game. All students get free admission when you show your YU-Card at the gate and are eligible to win prizes throughout the games! Thursday, September 8, Women’s: 6 p.m. and Men’s: 8:15 p.m. York Lions Stadium. Ticket purchase required.
